But lately Traverse City has been appearing on a lot of lists in the media and online and more and more people are discovering Traverse City. Here are just some of the lists that Traverse City has made over the last few years:

  • ABC TV’s Good Morning America (Aug 2011) proclaimed the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lake Shore the Most Beautiful Place in America. The “Dunes” are 25 miles west of Traverse City.
  • CBS Money Watch (June 2010) had Traverse City as a contender for “Best Places to Retire”  list and as having the best all-around arts scene.
  • AOL Travel News (June 2010) named Traverse City the #8 spot in its list of America’s Top Ten Beach Towns. It also named Traverse City one of the Top Ten “Coolest towns in the States”.  
  • Bob Appetit magazine (September 2010) named Traverse City one of America’s Top 5 Foodie Towns.
  • Livability.com (April 2010) listed Traverse City in first place in its Top Ten List of Surprising Foodie Towns. They had surveyed over 200 American Cities.
  • Midwest Living magazine put Traverse City in first place in both 2009 and 2010 on their list of The Midwest’s Top Five Food Towns.
  • Money magazine (Sept. 2009) listed Traverse City as #3 on its list of Best Places to Retire.
